Emma Walford

Co-founder and CEO

About Emma

Emma has a breadth of strategy, sustainability, leadership and commun-ications expertise built over 15+ years.

Emma has been at the helm of Perigon since she and Nick co-founded it in January 2022, leading on its proposition development and client engagements. She spends her non-client-facing time developing tools and frameworks to evolve the way we approach strategy in the ‘intelligence age’.

Before Perigon, she was Group Corporate Communications and Sustainability Director and a member of the Executive Leadership Team for Virgin Money, a tier one UK bank, and served on the Board of Virgin Money Giving.

Prior roles were in strategy and corporate development across CYBG (now Virgin Money), RBS (now NatWest), and Standard Life (now Aberdeen).

Emma has a first-class honours degree in Physics from the University of St Andrews and is a CharteredAccountant.

Outside of work, Emma loves the outdoors – particularly walking her dog, being mum to 3-year-old Monty, saunas and cold plunges, skiing, cryptic crosswords and reading. She was also a long-time runner until recent knee issues and now stays sane by swimming and cycling instead.

Nick Walford

Co-founder and Head of Advisory

About Nick

Nick has over 25 years of experience across strategy, corporate development and equity markets.

Since founding Perigon with Emma in January 2022, he has partnered with clients to lead their business strategy development and provide fractional C-suite support.

Before Perigon, he held Head of Strategy roles at FTSE100 and FTSE250 companies, which involved establishing and leading teams to define and implement organic and inorganic strategic plans.

This included leading on CYBG's £1.6bn acquisition of Virgin Money in 2018 to create the UK’s 6th largest bank, leveraging strategy and M&A experience built over 10 years at RBS (now NatWest).

Nick’s early career at JPMorgan was in European equity derivatives. He has held a range of NED roles on UK financial services Boards and has an MBA from The Australian Graduate School of Management in Sydney.

In another life, Nick would have been a chef. He loves cooking – and the eating and drinking that comes after. He’s a dedicated dad to his four children, a keen golfer and enjoys racquet sports – squash, tennis and more recently padel.

Nettle

The Dog

About Nettle

On video calls, Nettle can usually be seen sleeping on the sofa at the back of Emma's office.

In the run-up to meal times or walks, she will make her presence more obvious, resting her large and bearded head on Emma's desk.

Nettle has incredible perseverence and goes to all lengths to meet her goals, sometimes attempting to clamber onto Emma's lap if she feels her needs are not being adequately prioritised. As she weighs nearly 30kg, the technique rarely fails to deliver.

When not performing her important role as The Perigon Dog, Nettle can usually be found romping in the countryside or cavorting on the beach. It's a hard life.
