Meet our team

Emma Walford

Founding Partner

About Emma

Emma has a breadth of strategy, sustainability, leadership and communications expertise built over 15+ years.

Emma has been at the helm of Perigon since she and Nick co-founded it in January 2022, leading on its proposition development and client engagements. She spends her non-client-facing time developing tools and frameworks to evolve the way we approach strategy in the ‘intelligence age’.

Before Perigon, she was Group Corporate Communications and Sustainability Director and a member of the Executive Leadership Team for Virgin Money, a tier one UK bank, as well as serving on the Board of Virgin Money Giving.

Prior roles were in strategy and corporate development across CYBG (now Virgin Money), RBS (now NatWest), and Standard Life (now Aberdeen).

Emma has a first-class honours degree in Physics from the University of St Andrews and is a CharteredAccountant.

Geeks out on: advocating long-termism in an increasingly myopic society, developing a sustainable strategy tools fit for the ‘intelligence age’ and thoughtful AI applications.

Nick Walford

Founding Partner

About Nick

Nick has over 25 years of experience across strategy, corporate development and equity markets.

Since founding Perigon with Emma in January 2022, he has partnered with clients to lead their business strategy development and provide fractional C-suite support.

Before Perigon, he held Head of Strategy roles at FTSE100 and FTSE250 companies, which involved establishing and leading teams to define and implement organic and inorganic strategic plans.

This included leading on CYBG's £1.6bn acquisition of Virgin Money in 2018 to create the UK’s 6th largest bank, leveraging strategy and M&A experience built over 10 years at RBS (now NatWest).

Nick’s early career at JPMorgan was in European equity derivatives. He has held a range of NED roles on UK financial services Boards and has an MBA from The Australian Graduate School of Management in Sydney.

Geeks out on: absolutely nothing. Nick keeps the rest of us geeks in touch with the ‘cool’ people.

Andrew Hutchison

Senior advisor

About Andrew

Andrew has over 15 years of corporate development and sustainability experience.

Most recently, Andrew was the Climate and Sustainability Strategist within the UBS Chief Investment Office. Prior to joining UBS, Andrew was Director, Net Zero Strategy, in the Global Sustainability team at Credit Suisse, where his responsibilities included the development of climate-related strategy, targets and transition planning, as well as climate-related disclosures in the Group Sustainability Report.

In addition to strategy roles for multiple Virgin Group companies, Andrew has worked as an investment professional in the private equity industry and as an investment banking associate in the field of M&A.

Andrew has been a member of the Science Based Targets Initiative's (SBTi) Expert Advisory Group (EAG) on the development of their Financial Institution Net Zero (FINZ) Standard. In addition, Andrew was a representative in the Partnership for Carbon Accounting Financials (PCAF), the Net Zero Banking Alliance (NZBA) and the Glasgow Financial Alliance for Net Zero (GFANZ).
